Sou Sou/T'sao T'sao/Cao Cao gets a bad rap in Chinese folklore because the historical fiction novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" paints him as a tyrant and an usurper. In fact, your character is featured in my people's equivalent of the English phrase, "speak of the Devil:" "speak of Cao Cao and Cao Cao shall arrive." He is also given a famous line in the novel: "better that I shall wrong the world than the world should wrong me!"
However, we need to take that with a grain of salt. The novel was written from the point of view of the kingdom of Shu Han, the southwestern riverlands, portraying Liu Bei as the "legitimate" heir to the Han Dynasty and everybody else as, well, bad guys. In reality, Cao Cao/Sou Sou took over the crumbling remains of a system that had been failing for centuries. He kept the structure of the Han government that worked. He destroyed the old locks on social mobility and made a much more "equal" system where he gave people jobs based on how competent they were, not on what family they came from. He was a brilliant military strategist and an even-handed, fair ruler.
So, no matter how the guy's gone down in history, the real Sou Sou was just as much of a hero as any of the other big names during the Three Kingdoms/Sangokuden Era. And you've done a beautiful job as this version of Sou Sou. Congratulations - you've done my heritage proud.
